TL;DR — Many traders assume cashback means starting over with a brand-new account. Often it does not. Depending on your broker, you can move your existing account under a cashback provider as your introducing broker (IB) — keeping your balance, history and trading conditions — and start earning a per-lot rebate from that point on. Where a direct move is not allowed, opening a fresh account through the provider achieves the same result.
Two ways to start earning on trades you were making anyway
There are really only two paths, and the right one depends on your broker’s rules:
- Move your existing account. Some brokers let you re-assign your account to a new introducing broker. You keep the same login, balance and platform — only the partner attached to your account changes, which is what switches the rebate on.
- Open a fresh account through the provider. If your broker does not allow a mid-life IB change, opening a new account under the cashback link takes a few minutes, and you simply trade there going forward.
Either way, you are not changing broker — you are changing who introduces you to that broker. Your spreads, leverage and execution stay the same.
When can you move an existing account?
It comes down to the individual broker’s policy. Some allow an IB re-assignment on request; others only attach a partner at account opening. The honest answer is that it is broker-specific, so the first step is always to check. On each broker’s page in the rate board we flag whether existing accounts are supported, and the account-linking flow in your dashboard walks you through the exact steps for your broker.
What you keep — and what changes
When you move or re-link correctly, here is the reality:
- Keep: your broker, your platform (MT4/MT5), your trading conditions, and your money — cashback never touches your funds.
- Changes: a per-lot rebate now accrues on your volume and is paid weekly to your account.
Cashback is credited into your own trading account, so there is no third-party wallet holding your money and nothing extra to withdraw.
See what you are currently missing
If you have been trading with no rebate, that commission has simply been kept by whoever introduced you — or by no one. The switch & save calculator turns that into a real number: enter your broker and monthly volume and it shows the yearly cashback you are currently leaving on the table. For most active traders, that figure is the moment the decision makes itself.
How to make the switch
- Find your broker on the rate board and check whether existing accounts are supported.
- Follow the linking steps in your dashboard — move your current account, or open a fresh one through the link.
- Trade as normal; your rebate reconciles from volume and pays weekly.
